Virginia Dare

Virginia Dare were formed by vocalist/autoharpist Mary O’Neil and guitarist Brad Johnson, who was simply within the Wannabe Texans, a SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA group which was reputable on the neighborhood alternative circuit. In the beginning bassist Paula Fraser was area of the trio, but she remaining to spend her energies to some other group, Tarnation. She was changed by Greg Freeman, bassist in Pell Mell and an engineer/maker for countless regional underground acts. Mostly of the drumless rock organizations within the mainstream or the underground, Virginia Dare favour sluggish and sparse folk-rock music, sung and compiled by O’Neil, with plans that stick out from typical for their usage of autoharp, insufficient drums, and stark, large air. After liberating several EPs on Nuf Sed, their debut recording, Baby Got Away, arrived in 1998.
