Violets

Created by guitarist Joe Daniel in summer time 2003 soon after he had setup the Angular Documenting Corporation label, the line-up of the UK indie rock-band was finished by Alexis McCleod aka Alexis Mary (vocals) and Andrew Moran (drums). Preliminary press interest centered on McCleod’s magnetic and sexually intimidating stage presence, using the impact of post-punk figurehead Siouxsie Sioux of Siouxsie AS WELL AS THE Banchees a clear reference stage. The trio produced their debut using the monitor ‘Laxteen’, that was highlighted on November’s Angular compilation THE BRAND NEW Combination: An Angular Sampler. The 7-inches single ‘Reflection Reflection’, which implemented in-may 2005, reprised the angular punk disco audio of ‘Laxteen’ and attracted widespread curiosity in the united kingdom individual press. A string of further one and compilation produces culminated in 2007’s fascinating ‘Foreo’, which highlighted a vocal eerily similar to Hazel O’Connor amid the jerky brand-new influx rhythms and needle sharpened riffs. The Shed Pages, released down the road in the entire year, struggled to complement the melodic thrust from the one and was indistinguishable from modern releases with a glut of various other post-punk bands.
