Violeta Cavalcanti

Violeta Cavalcanti had achievement in the years of 1940 and 1950 using a repertory of sambas and Carnival marches. At ten she was inspired to be always a singer with the challenging Heitor Villa-Lobos, who acquired a national schooling project that place him in continuous contact with learners. Still an adolescent, she was also praised by Ary Barroso in his beginner show. From then on she started to participate in many radio applications in Rio, becoming employed by Rádio Ipanema. Her 1st album premiered in the Carnival of 1940 and included “Pulo perform Gato” (J. Cascata/F. Correia da Silva) and “Vou Sair de Pai João” (J. Cascata/Leonel Azevedo). In 1941, she was employed by Rádio Nacional, where she remained until 1957. Between 1957 and 1977, Cavalcanti deserted the artistic existence for her relationship. In 1977, she got a time of year with Paulinho da Viola and made a decision to return, beginning to record once again. In the ’90s she teamed up with additional singers from the Golden Age group of radio (Nora Ney, Carmélia Alves, Ellen de Lima, Rosita Gonzáles, and Zezé Gonzaga), developing the group As Eternas Cantoras perform Rádio, which also offers recorded CDs.
