An extremely versatile drummer, Vinnie Colaiuta is impossible to pigeonhole as only a specialist in mere a couple of areas. He’s with the capacity of playing extremely reliable pop-jazz, or documenting with Buell Neidlinger and Marty Krystall within a post-bop quartet. Colaiuta’s abilities were apparent from an early on age. After participating in the Berklee College of Music, he caused Frank Zappa (1978) and performed with Joni Mitchell for quite some time. Settling in LA in 1983, Colaiuta proved helpful for seven years as an extremely busy studio room musician. In 1990 he returned on the highway with Sting and in 1994 got his first record time being a head, the self-titled Vinnie Colaiuta for the Stretch label.
