Like their labelmates Sonia Dada and Rusted Root, the Vigilantes of Like blended blues, gospel, folk-rock and country-rock. Shaped in 1990 in Athens, Georgia, the group contains chief songwriter Expenses Mallonee on vocals and acoustic guitars, Newton Carter on electrical guitars and support vocals, David LaBruyere on bass, and Travis Aaron McNabb on drums and percussion. Vigilantes of Like started as an acoustic duo, with simply Mallonee and an accordionist; after liberating two 3rd party albums like a duo, Mallonee added various other Athens-area regional band veterans to visit electric. Pursuing two additional indie albums, the music group authorized to Capricorn for 1994’s Thanks for visiting Struggleville and 1995’s Blister Spirit. After 1996’s V.O.L., the music group returned the next year with Decrease Dark Train. Mix the Big Fish pond made an appearance in 1999, and in 2000 Vigilantes of Like released Audible Sigh.
