The musical traditions of Eastern Europe’s Gypsies have already been given today’s sensibility by singer/songwriter Vêra Bílá and her group Kale. Better known in France than within their homeland, Bílá as well as the group build an audio that reveals an array of affects. Born in the tiny gypsy community of Rokycany, in Bohemia, Bílá continues to be singing the majority of her lifestyle. Launching her profession as a vocalist in her father’s cymbalom music group, she produced her very own group, Kale, in the past due ’70s.
