Velvet Revolver began having a springtime 2002 jam program that reunited ex-Guns N’ Roses bandmates Slash (acoustic guitar), Duff McKagan (bass), and Matt Sorum (drums) on-stage. Using the finding that their chemistry was still heading solid, the trio started pressing around some songs and auditioning performers for what became referred to as “the Task.” Early entries included ex-Buckcherry shouter Josh Todd and Neurotica’s Kelly Shaefer; both became familiar with the trimming room ground. By early 2003, the presence of “the Task” — and its own search for a vocalist — was common understanding, so much in order that VH1 delivered cameras to record the search. Dave Kushner (Lost Youngsters, Dave Navarro) also became a member of up as second guitarist. Stressed STP-er Scott Weiland arrived on board following. He as well as the music group clicked instantly and documented a hyper little bit of glitter metallic for the Hulk soundtrack known as “Established Me Totally free.” By June, “the Project” have been renamed Velvet Revolver, and Weiland was officially produced its lead vocalist, though possession fees stemming from a May bust had been still excellent. The music group signed a cope with RCA and spent the others of 2003 appropriate in gigs and documenting periods around Weiland’s court-ordered rehab. RCA following announced an Apr 2004 discharge for Contraband, Velvet Revolver’s full-length debut; the time was then pressed to May, and lastly to June. That springtime, Weiland labored through courtroom schedules and recovery as Slash and Duff do progress press for Contraband, and enthusiast expectation for the record grew. VR also released the one “Slither,” a rabid, ambitious rocker led by Slash’s personal guitar audio. The one sidled steadily in the energetic rock charts, so when Contraband finally slipped, it had been to general understanding for its mixture of STP and GNR signatures and its own surprising convert toward hedonistic maturity. Velvet Revolver’s sophomore work, Libertad, implemented in 2007. In Dec 2015, Weiland was discovered deceased in Bloomington, Minnesota, while on tour along with his then-band, the Wildabouts.
