Vehicle Duren was area of the early Memphis power pop picture that spawned the legendary Big Celebrity, and made many underexposed, small-label information during the past due ’70s. Duren started playing in rings at age 13 in 1966 and went to senior high school with eventual Big Celebrity drummer Jody Stephens; he auditioned to displace Chris Bell in Big Celebrity in 1974, soon after the conclusion of Third/Sister Enthusiasts. In 1975, he and Stephens collaborated on some demos which were produced by previous Stones supervisor Andrew Loog Oldham (whom he fulfilled through maker Jon Tiven), along with a 12 months later on he was playing in an organization known as the Baker Road Regulars with both Bell and Stephens. In 1977, Duren journeyed to New Britain to record for Tiven’s fresh Big Sound label; his single debut, ARE YOU CURRENTLY Serious?, premiered in March 1978. The recording premiered in European countries as Looking at the Ceiling on Big Sound. Another recording, Idiot Optimism, was documented in 1978 and 1979, though disagreements and monetary difficulties avoided it from released (until it had been licensed to japan Air Email label in 1999). Duren came back to Memphis in 1981 and the next 12 months come up with a band known as Good Query, which gigged around the town on / off for another 18 years. In 1999, Duren collaborated with fellow Memphis power popster Tommy Hoehn within the recording Hailstone Holiday, which he received co-billing. However, health problems compelled Duren to significantly curtail his actions in 2000, which resulted in the break up of Good Issue.
