Van Broussard

Although he’s not really a household name nationally, Van Broussard is nearly legendary within the Cajun bayou regions of Southern Louisiana for helping forge just how for swamp pop music. At numerous times, he offers performed like a single act, as fifty percent of the group Vehicle & Titus, and recently using the Bayou Boogie Music group. Before his sister, Elegance Broussard, had popular record in 1963 with Dale Houston within the pairing Dale & Elegance, she also performed regularly with her old brother within their hometown of Prairieville, LA, in a nightspot known as Cal’s Club. Through the early years of Broussard’s profession, his music revolved around Dixieland as he performed around Ascension Parish. A turning stage arrived in the middle-’50s, when Elvis Presley’s early recordings captured Broussard’s interest and he began leaning toward the seems of R&B and, later on, straight-ahead into swamp pop. Broussard’s lengthy profession includes releases for several different labels, included in this CSP, Red Stay, Rex, and Bayou Boogie. During his old age, Broussard released over fifty percent twelve albums with CSP, amassing around 100 recorded tunes for the label only. His well-known singles consist of “Lord I WANT Somebody Poor Tonight” in 1977 and “Feed the Fire” in 1958. The Louisiana Hall of Popularity inducted the designer in 1997.
