Václav Neumann

The career of Czech conductor Václav Neumann was closely linked with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, that he served as chief conductor during three split tenures, totaling 25 years, starting in 1948 and ending in 1993. He also garnered various other important podium tasks, including key conductor from the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and musical general-director from the Leipzig Opera. As a kid Václav Neumann demonstrated musical talent in early stages and by his mid-teens could play the violin with significant proficiency, if not really seasoned mastery. He got into the Prague Conservatory in 1940, where he spent the battle years receiving education over the violin from Josef Micka. Liked many violinists Neumann also created impressive skills over the viola during this time period. Furthermore, he studied performing on the conservatory with Pavel Dedecek and Metod Dolezil. In 1945, Neumann helped discovered the Smetana Quartet, an organization that he performed viola. He also performed that instrument among the members from the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra in the first postwar years. In 1948, he recognized the session of conductor from the CPO, but his selection appeared a stopgap one in light from the politics instabilities and various other complications afflicting Prague during this time period. He produced numerous successful travels abroad, and a variety of critically acclaimed recordings over another 2 decades, including comprehensive cycles from the symphonies of Mahler and Martinu. From 1970-73, Neumann concurrently offered as the musical general movie director from the Stuttgart Staatsoper.
