UUVVWWZ

Their music isn’t quite as unusual as their name, but it’s close. UUVVWWZ (pronounced “dual U, dual V, double dual U, Zee”) consider their weirdo cues from indie rings like Deerhoof, Micachu, and Kap Bambino with unconventional track structures, angular acoustic guitar riffage, rigid start-stop rhythms, and frantic yelping. Guitarist Jim Schroeder, bassist Dustin Wilbourn, drummer Tom Ambroz, and vocalist Teal Gardner created the group within their hometown of Lincoln, NE, in 2007. That 12 months, they published nine tunes and made programs to record them before Teal remaining town to visit university. As their self-titled recording started nearing conclusion, she made a decision to stay, and after departing on a little East Coastline tour, their debut was planned to become released within the Lincoln indie label It Are Great Records. Close by in Omaha, Robb Nansel, chief executive of Saddle Creek Information, caught wind from the group’s crazy displays and he setup a gathering to indication the music group. After amicably parting methods with It Are Great to go to the house of Cursive and Shiny Eye, the record was remixed by Criteria’s bassist A.J. Mogis and officially released by Saddle Creek on June 7, 2009.
