Protégés of New Orleans-based Dirty South rapper Juvenile (Terius Gray), the UTP Playas were formed in 2002 because the rapper was leaving the money Cash label. The Uptown Task Playas, called for New Orleans’ Uptown area, were primarily conceived like a posse, with liquid boundaries between crucial people of the group and visitor stars like Youthful Buck. Accurate to its name, the group’s 2002 debut, The Compilation, gets the eclectic, anything-goes experience of an excellent mixtape, because of the revolving-door studio room policy which includes places by Neglect, Wacko, Soulja Slim, Decrease Level, Corey Cee, and Lil Tee. The follow-up, 2003’s Juvenile Presents: Road Stories, offers fewer solo paths by the many rappers and a far more collaborative, freestyling experience, although the steady of guest celebrities features the vast majority of the same titles. Following Adolescent Buck’s proceed to 50 Cent’s G-Unit team as well as the murder of Soulja Slim (Wayne Tapp) on November 26, 2003, the UTP Playas downsized significantly, curtailing the visitor star places and turning out to be a self-contained team offering Juvenile, Wacko, and Miss. Issued in 2004, Nolia Clap was the 1st release with the brand new slimmed-down lineup.
