Uncle Eck Dunford

Fiddler Uncle Eck Dunford recorded many edges for Victor through the past due ’20s, though he’s best-known for his collaboration with Ernest Pop Stoneman (from the Stoneman Family members). Dunford and his music group the Bogtrotters had been located in Galax, Virginia, a town renowned among the centers of old-timey music and well-known for its fiddler’s conventions. A significant colorful personality based on local resources, Dunford made an appearance on a lot of Stoneman’s recordings, though he just recorded sparingly by himself. One of is own songs, “Aged Shoes or boots and Leggins,” obtained a little bit of popularity though, after it had been included on Harry Smith’s 1952 folksong collection Anthology of American Folk Music.
