Traditional Crossroads Udi Yorgo Bacanos was an important force in bringing the original Turkish stringed instrument, the ud, up to modern standards. Journeying throughout European countries and the center East as soon as the 1920s, Bacanos helped to pass on the popularity from the device beyond the Turkish edges. For quite some time, Bacanos collaborated with Turkish vocalist and stomach dancer Umm Kulthum.
