Biography
U.T.F.O. was a Brooklyn, NY-based rap group, made up of the Kangol Child, Doctor Glaciers, the Educated Rapper, and Combine Master Glaciers. The quartet initial fulfilled as dancers for Whodini, before developing U.T.F.O. (which stood for “Untouchable Power Firm”) in 1983. In early stages, the group described themselves as “the Community Folks of Rap,” because of the fact that all member possessed a particular image (Doctor Glaciers was the “Hip-Hop Physician,” Educated Rapper was a scholar who used a fit and tie, Combine Master Glaciers assumed the persona of the ninja since he’d “cut factors up” in the turntables, and Kangol Child got his name because of his affinity for often putting on Kangol-brand hats). Putting your signature on towards the Select label in 1984, U.T.F.O. have scored a massive strike single right from the bat with “Roxanne, Roxanne,” which struck this kind of chord using the burgeoning rap picture it spawned countless “response” tracks by other performers, including “Roxanne’s Revenge,” “THE TRUE Roxanne,” “Roxanne You’re Through,” “Roxanne’s Mom,” “Roxanne’s Sibling,” “Roxanne’s Doctor,” as well as perhaps strangest of most, “Roxanne’s a guy” (furthermore, several woman rappers used the “Roxanne” name themselves, including Roxanne Shanté and THE TRUE Roxanne). 1985 noticed U.T.F.O. concern a self-titled full-length debut, including their very own “Roxanne, Roxanne” follow-up, “Phoning Her a Crab (Roxanne Component 2),” which didn’t match its predecessor’s achievement; because the group toured alongside such fellow important rap functions as Run-D.M.C., Kurtis Blow, system.drawing.bitmap Males, and Newcleus, on the 30-city location tour called the brand new York Town Fresh Fest. For U.T.F.O.’s sophomore work, 1986’s Skeezer Pleezer, the Educated Rapper took a short leave of lack, before returning for Lethal a season later; an record which was criticized with the group’s first following because of its stylistic change to even more racy materials (even though anti-drug title monitor highlighted a musical contribution from large metallists Anthrax, which predated Anthrax’s even more renowned cooperation with Public Foe by many years). But after two even more produces, 1989’s Doin’ It! and 1990’s Handbag It & Bone tissue It, U.T.F.O. made a decision to contact it a time. Within the wake of the split, Doctor Snow issued several single produces (including such game titles as Mic Stalker and Depend on Personal); while a 20-monitor strikes collection surfaced in 1996, THE VERY BEST of U.T.F.O., along with a two-for-one CD launch of Skeezer Pleezer/Lethal was released in 2000.
