Tyour Gnaoua

Among the truly unique music collaborations, Tyour Gnaoua represented the joint initiatives of Congolese keyboardist, percussionist, and vocalist Ray Lema and Moroccan music artists rooted in the Gnawa (Moroccan religious trance music) custom. The resulting audio was a wealthy combination of funk, reggae, Afro-Latin, and Moroccan trance affects. Descended from African slaves, the Gnawa music artists are masters from the musical, acrobatic, ritual, and restorative customs between Islam and dark Africa. Lema, who experienced previously recorded along with his personal music group, flew to Essaoira, the Moroccan middle from the Gnawa tradition, and helped type Tyour Gnaoua.
