Twin Danger

Brooklyn’s Twin Risk make their very own distinctive mixture of smoky, atmospheric jazz and pop. Produced in 2013, Twin Risk were born in the collaborative spark between longtime Sade guitarist/saxophonist Stuart Matthewman and vocalist/guitarist Vanessa Bley. The little girl of visual musician Carol Goss and jazz pianist Paul Bley, Vanessa was raised studying traditional piano in upstate NY. Self-taught on electric guitar and bass, Bley’s passions gradually shifted from traditional and toward jazz improvisation and performing. Later, while their studies at the style Institute of Technology in N.Con.C., she started performing her music at various regional venues. It had been during this time period that she collaborated with Estonian pop musician Kerli, who subsequently presented Bley to Matthewman. Finding that they distributed an eclectic flavor in jazz and rock and roll, Matthewman and Bley started performing and composing collectively. In 2015, Twin Risk released their debut self-titled recording on Universal.
