Trudy Kerr

Always attempting to be a vocalist dating back to she may remember, Australia’s Trudy Kerr began her professional profession within the 1980s soon after graduating from college. Her initial gigs had been in Brisbane restaurants, piano pubs and pubs carrying out middle-of-the-road addresses. She made a decision to go after jazz after hearing Chaka Khan over the Echos of a time record which Khan cut with Chick Corea and Freddie Hubbard. Kerr got her initial big break after shifting to London, Britain in the first 1990’s. She made an appearance at jazz night clubs around London while their studies at the Guildhall College of Music. This resulted in her initial record in 1997 Special Shock for the FMR label. Her second record Trudy premiered in 1999. Designed for Jazzizit, it is the label’s initial vocal release. Furthermore to Chaka Khan, Kerr cites Al Jarreau, Sarah Vaughan and Gladys Knight as influencing her design. This vocal design concoction is shown in her last record where she straddles the series between adult modern and jazz. Kerr is constantly on the gig in London night clubs and somewhere else in Europe and in addition teaches.
