Trio Patrekatt

The original and contemporary folk music of Sweden is combined by Stockholm-based trio Trio Patrekatt. Focused across the interplay between two nyckelharps (keyed fiddles) and cello, the group has generated its reputation on the colorful ensemble audio. While www.ink9.com praised the trio for combining “items of classical phrasing with unexpected joyful melodic twists,” Rolling Rock claimed they “make solid bass tempos that don’t normally characterize Swedish folk music.” The group was founded by three graduates from the Royal University of Music in Stockholm — Markus Svensson, Johan Hedin (who was simply subsequently changed by Niklas Roswall), and Annika Wijnbladh.
