Trial of the Bow

Biography

The Eastern-flavored duo Trial from the Bow was formed in 1993 by Australians Matthew Skarajew (strings) and Renato Gallina (percussion and vocals). As well as the use of the typical guitar/bass/drum set up, the duo also uses many exotic instruments, like the tabla, hammer dulcimer, tamboura, manjira, bansuri flute, and e-bow. Their extended, evocative, contemplative drones consider cues from many ageless resources, alternating from haunting to calming. Authorized to the Relapse label, Trial from the Bow debuted in 1995 with Ornamentation, which obtained them numerous evaluations towards the like-minded Lifeless Can Dance. Rite of Passing followed 2 yrs later.
