The ladies of alternative country trio Tres Chicas first came together through friendship along with a shared respect for every other’s singing in early 1999. Accomplished music artists and friends over time, Lynn Blakey (Glory Fountain, Let’s Energetic, Oh-OK), Caitlin Cary (Whiskeytown), and Tonya Lamm (Hazeldine) comprise the Raleigh, NC-based group whose music combines nice vocal harmonies with components of nation, folk, and rock and roll. They initial sang jointly publicly throughout a late-night spontaneous singalong after friend Alejandro Escovedo’s present in a Raleigh club, as well as the response uncovered that the gals had been to something particular. The moniker Tres Chicas finished up sticking following the nameless group was christened such with the club’s owner at their live debut. Playing locally for fun on the next couple of years, the group ultimately found free time to get together and record their music; however, the documenting was being performed even more for posterity’s sake than for launching an actual record. Manufacturer and friend Chris Stamey eventually confident the trio to think about usually, and Yep Roc released Tres Chicas’ debut, Sweetwater, in 2004 to vital acclaim. Touring, including a 2005 Western european tour, followed prior to the group going back again to the studio room. Documented in London using a primary band, a lot of visitor musicians, and companies Neil Brockbank and Robert Trehern, their sophomore work, Bloom, Crimson & the normal Girl, made an appearance in March 2006.
