Using their trance-evoking mixture of psychedelic blues-rock and folk music, Träd, Gräs och Stenar (Trees, Grass and Stones) played a central move in the introduction of progressive rock and roll in Scandinavia in the first ’70s. These were also one of the primary, and best-sounding, types of the idea that this target audience should take part in the music. Träd, Gräs och Stenar was created in 1969 by drummer Thomas Mera Gartz, bassist Torbjörn Abelli, cellist Arne Ericsson, and guitarist Bo Anders Persson, remnants of International Harvester, and released a self-titled debut recording in 1970. That same 12 months they published the music for the film Du Gamla du Fria but continued to be primarily a live music group. Not only do they carry out better live than on record — they actually had an application that described live interaction using the target audience as the primary purpose. Träd, Gräs och Stenar stood for any union of artwork with politics and performers with the target audience.
