Starting in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA in the first nineties, Monitor Star began executing mainly being a guitar duo. Utilizing a drum machine as its tempo section, the music group continuing to rehearse and perform before addiing a drummer. After launching a 7″ divide on Kick Down Information, Monitor Star documented a divide cassette with Raisler shortly soon after. In 1995, the music group documented and released Sometime What’s The Difference, an EP that received interest in Bay Region music circles. In 1997, Monitor Star tour through the entire United States to get its debut record, Commmunication Breaks. The group toured with Guarantee Band, Modest Mouse and Stereolab amongst others. Monitor Superstar also performed on the annual Sound Pop Festival. During this time period, Cusick was also involved with another music group, The Aislers Established. In 2000, guitarists Wyatt Cusick and Matthew Troy came back to utilizing a drum machine for music after splitting using its primary drummer. He was changed by Brian Girgus, previous drummer of Lowercase. Scrapping the materials it had, Monitor Star recorded brand-new materials and released its long-awaited sophomore record in 2002. Lions Destroyed DEPENDS UPON was referred to as sublime pop rock and roll by many and gained critical acclaim.
