Homespun minimalist quartet City & Nation was shaped by guitarist/trumpeter Ben Vida, contrabassist/pianist Josh Abrams, contrabassist Liz Payne, and harmonium participant Jim Dorling, all veterans from the Chicago avant-garde community. The group’s self-titled debut documenting was issued within the Boxmedia label in 1998; the Decoration Day time EP as well as the sophomore full-length EVERYTHING Is due to It adopted on Thrill Jockey in mid-2000.
