Totti Bergh

b. 5 Dec 1935, Oslo, Norway. Before selecting the tenor saxophone he previously performed clarinet, having been drawn to jazz by hearing information. By the first 50s he was energetic in jazz organizations in Norway and past due within the 10 years played on cruise lines at risk plying between Norway and NY. In NY he could advance his knowing of jazz by hearing top-flight music artists at first hands. However, by 1962, with jazz gigs few in number, he proceeded to go into industry, operating as finance supervisor for a English organization’s Norwegian workplace. He continued to try out jazz whenever you can, accompanying visiting English and American music artists. He also frequently followed his wife, vocalist Laila Dalseth, leading a normal quintet. In 1990, Bergh once again became a full-time professional musician. Only along with Dalseth, he offers toured Scandinavia, the united states and china and taiwan, playing night clubs, concerts and celebrations. Among performers with whom he spent some time working are George Masso, Al Cohn, Louis Stewart and Plas Johnson. An excellent, delicate interpreter of ballads, and a good, straight-ahead swinger, Bergh’s playing should get interest. His accompaniment to his wife’s performing can be exemplary. He takes on with a complete, breathy sound, phrasing elegantly along with understanding.
