Torture, from Un Paso, TX, was formed in 1986 by senior high school buddies Tom Hicks (electric guitar, vocals), Jerry Norland (drums, vocals), Deric Gunter (bass), and J.D. Robins (acoustic guitar) — most of whom distributed a enthusiasm for the Western thrash of Kreator and early Celtic Frost, aswell as the most common stateside suspects: Slayer, Exodus, etc. After continuous rehearsals interspersed with the casual opening slot machine under going to thrash functions, Torture documented 1987’s Terror Kingdom EP for an unbiased Mexican label and, later on, 1989’s full-length Surprise Alert for the badly distributed Plastic Mind Music. Neither were able to spread their name extremely far from house and the music group duly split up in the beginning of the 1990s, but Torture’s cult position has slowly obtained favour among old-school thrash fans.
