TOPS

Montreal weirdo-pop music group TOPS shaped in 2011 from the disbandment of Silly Kissers, an early on group that also included like-minded indie crooner Sean Nicholas Savage. TOPS had been produced by longtime collaborators vocalist Jane Cent and guitarist David Carriere, plus they had been soon joined up with by drummer Riley Fleck and bassist Tom Gillies. The music group was from the same picture that spawned works like Doldrums, Grimes, and Macintosh DeMarco, and documented its 2012 debut LP, Sensitive Opposites, for Arbutus Information, the label central compared to that picture. The record was fulfilled with critical compliment for its unusual mixture of outsider perspectives and AM pop songcraft. Gillies was changed by bassist Madeline Glowicki prior to the documenting of TOPS’ second record, 2014’s dreamy Picture You Looking. For the deliberate transformation of environment, the group documented its third LP at a residence in Glendale, California. The causing Sugar on the Gate appeared on Arbutus in June 2017 with Jackson MacIntosh (Sheer Agony) overtaking on bass. The group added 5th member Marta Cikojevic on keyboards with time for a springtime tour of European countries.
