An British musician and maker who produced his mark within the punk and fresh wave scene because the bassist for Era X and Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Tony Wayne cut his tooth in 1975 as an associate of the Uk punk outfit London SS, alongside Brian Wayne (the Damned), Mick Jones (the Clash), and Terry Chimes (the Clash). The next year he became a member of the music group Chelsea, another upstart punk device, where he fulfilled star-in-the-making Billy Idol, after that William Wide, with whom he’d continue to form Era X. The music group became among the 1st punk groups to seem together with the Pops, and loved a reliable string of well-regarded singles before disbanding in 1981. Wayne went on to create an recording for Sex Gang Kids, and penned the solitary “Russian Roulette” for Lords of the brand new Chapel frontman Stiv Bators. In 1982 he created the electro-glam punk clothing Sigue Sigue Sputnik with vocalist and designer Martin Degville.
