Tom McConville

Biography

b. 6 November 1950, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Britain. Through the 70s, the fiddle participant McConville toured with comedian Mike Elliott, after that teamed up with Bob Fox (electric guitar/vocals) to create a duo. McConville after that proved helpful briefly with Magna Carta in 1977. During 1979, he met up with Irish singer-songwriter Kieran Halpin to try out clubs and celebrations. In addition to the local circuit, they often times performed over the Continent, especially in Germany. They released two albums before reverting to single function. In 1983, McConville produced Dab Hands with Jez Lowe and Tom Napper (b. Berkshire, Britain; tenor banjo, mandolin, electric guitar, vocals). With just the one record to the line-up’s credit, and inadequate are a three-piece, McConville still left in 1987, once again returning to single shows. In 1988, he releasedStraight IN THE Shoulder. The wonderful follow-upCross The River noticed the fiddler building himself over the membership and celebration circuit. The record was produced, organized and documented by Chris Newman. In 1994 McConville produced an operating duo with Pauline Cato, leading to many acclaimed albums for the Tomcat label. In 2005 he released Melody For Michael, his initial solo record since 1993.
