Among Belgium’s most successful skill display contestants, Eeklo-born vocalist/songwriter Tom Eeckhout began his profession like a 15-year-old in the Dice before finishing runner-up to Dirk De Smet in the 2008 Flemish edition from the X Element. Changing his surname compared to that of his aged band, then scored popular with an acoustic cover of Leona Lewis’ “Blood loss Like” and continued to place 6th in the 2010 Eurovision Track Contest using the co-penned “Me & My Acoustic guitar.” Pursuing his number 1 debut recording, Teardrops, he documented a chart-topping cooperation with French chanteuse Elisa Tovati (“Il Nous Faut”) and released follow-up Heart accessible in 2012.
