Tom Brown

Among traditional New Orleans initial players and bandleaders to create store in Chicago. Dark brown first performed violin, then turned to trombone. He performed in Papa Jack port Laine’s Reliance Music group, after that became a bandleader in 1910 and had taken his music group to Chicago in 1915. He afterwards that year produced a short-lived vaudeville group in NY. When it folded, he came back to Chicago, where he going more bands. Dark brown alternated between Chicago and NY for documenting and executing engagements in the first ’20s. After dealing with Ray Miller in Chicago from 1922 – 1923, he transferred back again to New Orleans, where he documented with Johnny Bayersdorffer and Norman Brownlee amongst others within the ’20s. He started doubling being a bassist within the ’30s and in the ’40s was a freelance program musician on both trombone and bass. He documented with Johnny Wiggs and Harry Shields within the ’50s.
