Toby McKeehan (or tobyMac, as he’s professionally known) was raised in the north Virginia suburbs within the shadow of Washington, D.C., where he fell deeply in love with rap music. While going to Liberty University or college in Lynchburg, Virginia, through the middle-’80s, he fulfilled Michael Tait and Kevin Maximum Smith (aka Kevin Maximum), as well as the three close friends created the Grammy-winning, platinum-selling Christian pop group dc Chat, which mixed components of CCM, grunge, and rap. When dc Chat finished in 1999, McKeehan started a single career which was stylistically varied and immensely effective as well. The very first tobyMac single recording, Momentum, premiered in 2001. An assortment of metropolitan rock and roll and rap, it garnered five Dove Honours along with a Grammy nomination, and spawned the remix recording Re: Blend Momentum, which found the light in 2003. Using just about exactly the same blueprint, and also adding in just a little dancehall reggae, McKeehan released Thanks for visiting Diverse Town in 2004. It worked well again; the recording got tobyMac a Dove Award for Rap/Hip-Hop Recording of the entire year. Another album-length remix arranged, Renovating->Diverse City, arrived in 2005. Released in 2007, Portable Seems provided followers with another lively, genre-melding group of fresh material and joined the Billboard 200 at quantity 10. McKeehan debuted brand-new materials while on his 2014 Worship, Tales, and Tune Tour, as well as the one “Beyond Me” premiered at the start of 2015.
