Comprised of many generations of pop-minded hitmakers, Tinted Home windows combine a supergroup pedigree with an appreciation for sugary, unapologetic power pop. Vocalist Taylor Hanson and bassist Adam Schlesinger originally crossed pathways in the middle-’90s, during Hanson’s heyday as a teenager heartthrob and Schlesinger’s early advancement with Fountains of Wayne. Although both expressed curiosity about a collaborative task, each had even more pressing responsibilities to wait to, including Schlesinger’s administration of his very own label (Scratchie Information, co-owned with longtime friend Adam Iha). As the years advanced, Iha still left the Smashing Pumpkins’ lineup but continuing to function alongside Schlesinger, also lending his electric guitar abilities to Fountains of Wayne’s 2003 work, Welcome Interstate Managers. Many years afterwards, Schlesinger and Hanson made a decision to finally start their long-gestating cooperation, and Iha gladly climbed overseas as the band’s guitarist. The trio after that searched for a drummer, searching for someone who performed in the vein of Cheap Trick’s Bun E. Carlos. They ultimately expanded the invitation to Carlos himself, who appreciated the band’s demonstration materials and decamped to NY to function alongside the music group. Tinted Windows agreed upon with S Curve Information, Fountains of Wayne’s previous label, and released their debut record in springtime 2009.
