Tim Armacost

We were young in Tokyo, Washington, and LA coupled with Tim Armacost’s duration of world touring improved this multi-instrumentalist’s absorption of cultural musics. Armacost began playing clarinet in Tokyo at age group eight. By 16, he previously relocated to Washington and turned to playing tenor saxophone in big rings. At 18, he relocated to L.A. and started developing his chops in various live configurations with Bobby Bradford and Charlie Shoemake. Upon graduating magna cum laude from Ponoma University, he going for Amsterdam and gigged regularly around European countries for seven years, teaching and documenting. Continuing his moves, he relocated to India and discovered tabla as well as the custom of Hindustani traditional music, performing regularly with Indian jazz and traditional music artists and playing Bombay’s worldwide jazz event. In 1993, Armacost relocated to NY, where he documented his first program as a innovator, Open fire, on Concord. Live at Smalls premiered next on Two times Time, offering trumpeter Tom Harrell. During this time period, Armacost documented and used Kenny Barron, Roy Hargrove, David Murray Big Music group, Maria Schneider Orchestra, and Randy Brecker, and the like.
