Tied + Tickled Trio

Allegedly named after a Japanese sex technique, Tied + Tickled Trio certainly are a German ensemble that try to merge components of modern electronic music using the even more familiar, traditional areas of contemporary jazz. Produced in 1994 by Notwist associates Markus (drums, development) and Micha Acher (trumpet, upright bass), the initial trio ultimately ballooned to add many players in the incestuous (and side-project-heavy) city of Weilheim, Germany. Johannes Enders (tenor sax, piano), Andreas Gerth (keyboards, theremin, various other sundry products), and Christoph Brander (drums, sampler) had been among those onboard for the band’s self-titled 1998 debut, a shadowy affair that effectively married their like of plaintive, Bluenote jazz using a simple undercurrent of digital texturing. After going for a break in 1999 (generally in order that Markus could record with recently formed electronic clothing Lali Puna) the music group came back with EA1 EA2. That critically-acclaimed record would build on the blueprint of their first mission declaration by incorporating a far more ambitious creation ethic; it could also yield an effective Western european tour and a remix record on Morr Music. The band’s third correct album, Electric powered Avenue Tapes, implemented in 2001.
