b. Thomas Wayne Perkins, 22 July 1940, Battsville, Mississippi, USA, d. 15 August 1971, Tennessee, USA. Wayne was a traditional one-hit artist, younger sibling of Luther Perkins, the guitarist who created and first performed the brand two-string guitar design behind Johnny Money. Wayne went to Humes SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL in Memphis, in which a few years previously the youthful Elvis Presley got come and eliminated with small fanfare. There Wayne shaped a group known as the De-Lons, that was documented by Scotty Moore, guitarist for Presley, for the Fernwood Information label, which Moore co-owned. That 1st single did nothing at all, but Wayne’s second solitary for Fernwood, a weepy ballad entitled ‘Tragedy’, managed to get to #5 5 in america national graph. The song experienced renewed existence in 1961 as popular for the Fleetwoods. Wayne documented for other brands but was struggling to follow that strike, although Presley documented a song he previously written, ‘The Lady Next Door Proceeded to go A Strolling’, in 1960. Wayne ultimately moved into creation function, but his existence was tragically slice brief when he was wiped out in an automobile collision near Memphis in 1971.
