Upon their formation in 1989, the Thomas Jefferson Slave Apartments immediately self-released some 7″s with their surroundings of Columbus, OH. Making use of their selection of noise-laced punk riffs, the four-piece of Ron Home (vocals), Bob Petric (acoustic guitar), Ted Hattemer (drums), and Craig Dunson would ultimately launch their first full-album, entitled Bait and Change, through Onion/American Information in 1995. After Anyhow Records released their follow-up record Right to Video 2 yrs later, Haynes Kids bassist Phil Parks would complete within the four-string because the Thomas Jefferson Slave Flats hit the street with Led By Voices in 1997.
