The Zephyrs

Edinburgh, Scotland-based fantasy pop outfit shaped in later 1998 simply by brothers Stuart (electric guitar/vocals) and David Nicol (bass). The Nicols teamed up with another group of brothers, Gordon (drums/vocals) and Jonathan Kilgour (electric guitar/vocals), and harmonica participant Stuart Campbell to record the Zephyrs’ debut It’s Alright NOT SAYING Anything. Made by Super Furry Pets and Mogwai associate Michael Brennan Jnr., the record premiered on Edinburgh’s EVOL label in springtime 2000. Cellist Caroline Barber augmented the line-up for the documenting from the Stargazer EP, that was released via Mogwai’s Southpaw Recordings imprint. The music group smoothed out the tough sides of their debut record upon this EP, fusing nation spirit and soaring instrumental play a manner similar to their close affiliates Mogwai and US experimentalists Mercury Rev. The clumsily entitled When The Sky BOILS DOWN It BOILS DOWN On Your Mind expanded the guarantee of Stargazer over the distance of an record, with visitor players like the Great Llamas’ Sean O’Hagan and Mojave 3’s Rachel Goswell. Several line-up adjustments and the increased loss of their documenting agreement threatened to destabilise the music group, however the Nicol brothers persevered and in 2002 installed using the Spanish label Acuarela release a an EP, The Appreciate That Will SHOW YOU Back Home. Ex – business lead guitarist Malcolm Cochrane was eventually brought back into the line-up, alongside brand-new recruits Robert Dillam (electric guitar) and David Denims (drums). Today boasting a well balanced line-up for the very first time in a number of years, the music group signed a fresh documenting agreement with Setanta Information and released their third record, A Season To YOUR DAY.
