The Yayhoos

Comprised of three singer/songwriters — Dan Baird (Georgia Satellites), Eric Ambel (the Del Lords, Eric Ambel & Roscoe’s Gang), Terry Anderson (Woods), and something secret tool, Keith Christopher (Billy Joe Shaver) — the Yayhoos attempt to take over the entire world in 1995. Sadly, it didn’t quite workout that way. Following a short Southern tour with Drivin’ N’ Cryin’ which the music group performed a greatest-hits arranged, the boys had written a batch of swaggering rock and roll songs to look around. In 1996, they toured European countries as well as the U.S. to get Baird’s Buffalo Nickel, and many compilation tracks adopted (“California” on East Part Tale, “Highway Junkie” on Rig Rock and roll Deluxe, and “Tumblin’ Dice” with Johnny Copeland on Color It Blue: Tracks from the Rolling Rocks). The main brands’ response was that three performers (that they had four, in fact) in a single music group was way too many; also, grown males with undesired facial hair who play rock and roll & roll aren’t precisely MTV fare. The Yayhoos released Dread Not the most obvious in 2001. Five years later on they released Place the Hammer Down and continuing to tour.
