The WhoRidas

Appearing out of Oakland through the mid-’90s, the WhoRidas symbolized a fresh generation of hip-hop: hard but intelligent, musical but nonetheless deeply funky. Cousins Ruler Saan (Hasaan Mahmoud) and Mr. Taylor (Meikeo Taylor) started freestyling jointly, and after Ruler Saan came out on his old sibling Saafir’s 1994 debut record, Boxcar Periods, the WhoRidas started recording. Their initial one, “Shot Callin’ & Big Ballin’,” marketed 15,000 copies from the back again of their car, and by using Saafir the set signed to Mouth watering Vinyl. By using their production staff, Hobo Junction, the WhoRidas released their debut record, Whoridin’, in August 1997; the follow-up, Hightimes, made an appearance in 1999.
