The Whirlwinds

As the Cordells, Jimmy Ellis, Earl Young, Val Walker, and Ralph Boston hardly ever got from the snide. In 1961, the same calendar year the the Cordells released their last 45 rpm, the Philly performers became the Whirlwinds and documented “Angel Like”/”The Hill” on Guyden Information. It didn’t sell many copies and Guyden abstained from launching anything else from their website. They didn’t record once again until 1963, this time around for Phillips Information, but “Heartbeat”/”Following the Party” stiffed. They added Charles Hynes and attempted it as the Exceptions, but nonetheless didn’t shake in the graphs. Times Square Information re-released “Heartbeat” in 1967, however the second period proved no attraction. The Trammps, the self-contained Philly disco music group supreme that exploded in the ’70s, was a merger from the Exceptions as well as the Volcanoes.
