Within the mid-’60s, the Watson and Carlton families were documented and created a storehouse of traditional mountain music. Though Doc Watson shines through (needlessly to say), the ensuing albums were in no way his showcase. Signing up for him are mom Annie, wife Rosa Lee, father-in-law Gaither Carlton, sibling Arnold, and boy Merle. That is as genuine as nation music gets, people.
