The Wandering

The Wandering gathers five traditionally minded music artists assembled by Luther Dickinson for the intended purpose of recording and touring. Each of them either hail from or reside in Memphis and North Mississippi. The lineup contains Amy LaVere on upright bass, guitarist Shannon McNally, banjo prodigy Valerie June, and Shardé Thomas, erstwhile innovator of the Increasing Celebrity Fife and Drum Music group (and granddaughter of Increasing Celebrity founder, the famous Otha Turner). All people sing and consider turns on business lead vocals. Dickinson got the theory for the group when he was hearing June play the banjo. Long associated with all of those other members in another of his many tasks as the musician or maker, the theory became possible during the period of 2 yrs. Their debut record, Go On Today, You Can’t Stay Right here: Mississippi Folk Music, Vol. 3, premiered in-may of 2012.
