The Waifs

Originally performing Bob Dylan covers around bars within their native Australia, the sister duo of Vikki and Donna Simpson were referred to as COLOURS. Shaped in 1992 and touring continuously within their homeland, the set installed with Josh Cunningham throughout a stay in August 1992. A season later on, they transformed their name towards the WAiFS. Following that, the group released a cassette of initial material but made a decision to mind for Melbourne, the mecca of Australian music. A faithful following and busy touring pace led to three albums: the group’s self-titled debut in-may 1996, March 1998’s Shelter Me, and June 2000’s Kitchen sink or Swim. Folk celebrations across the USA and Canada also fell deeply in love with their nice harmonies and self-described “wholemeal” music. In addition they distributed the stage with such performers as Bob Dylan, Kasey Chambers, and Michelle Surprised. Even though Waifs experienced released third recording Kitchen sink or Swim in Australia in 2000, it didn’t get to America until 2002. The Waifs’ musical integrity was captured once more using their critically acclaimed follow-up, Up FOREVER, in the springtime of 2003. The recording continued to online the group four ARIA honours later on that 12 months. In 2004, the (mainly) live double-disc A BRIEF OVERVIEW… was released, although Waifs wouldn’t deliver their studio room follow-up until 2007’s Sunlight Dirt Water. Another live recording, Live through the Union of Spirit, was released in ’09 2009 documenting their 2008 collaborative tour with labelmates John Butler Trio. Their 6th studio album, Enticement, found its way to 2011, where period the band’s major members got all settled straight down in different elements of the U.S. Issues remained relatively calm for the group, with Cunningham launching his first single LP, Into Tomorrow, in 2011. By 2015, the Waifs got resumed touring in expectation of their seventh record, Beautiful You, that was released afterwards that season. To enjoy their 25th wedding anniversary, they released the twin record Ironbark in early 2017, and lay out on a significant nationwide tour of Australia.
