The Vulgar Boatmen

Roots-pop combo the Vulgar Boatmen was led from the singing/songwriting group of Robert Ray and Dale Lawrence; surviving in Gainesville, FL and Indianapolis, IN, respectively, the duo collaborated mainly by email, each rehearsing with regional musicians (a few of them later on recruited for documenting sessions and travels aswell). Jim Bays, Carey Crane and Michael Derry curved out the Vulgar Boatmen line-up in the group’s 1989 debut You as well as your Sister, made by Walter Salas-Humara from the Silos (whose Bob Rupe also guested in the record); J.D. Foster, Jonathan Isley and Helen Kirklin had been listed as formal associates for the follow-up, 1992’s much-acclaimed Make sure you Anxiety. Opposite Sex made an appearance three years afterwards; Lawrence additionally performed keyboards within the Mysteries of Lifestyle.
