The Vontastics

The Vontastics’ career mirrors that of the Ideals, another Chicago group, for the reason that each had three records that achieved some popularity beyond Chicago. They also documented for the same label, St. Lawrence Information although Cortland label released “Gorilla,” “Mo Gorilla,” and “Mo Jo Hanna,” the Ideals most widely used recordings. The last mentioned, in regards to a voodoo female from Louisiana was initially documented by Henry Lumpkin (Motown 1962). Driven by two business lead performers, Kenneth Gholar & Jose Holmes, a prolific songwriter, Bobby Lee Newsome, and Raymond Penn, the Vontastics’ audio was clean and emotional in support of lacked the correct publicity.
