The Vocals

The Vocals stayed together significantly less than a year, but half a year was spent touring with Ray Charles. These were a quartet comprising Lamonte McLemore, a professional photographer; Marilyn McCoo, a recently available beauty contest champion; Harry Elston; and Floyd Butler. Developing in LA, CA, in 1963, the melodious foursome got lucky using the Charles connection, putting your signature on along with his Tangerine label for an individual in 1964 entitled “Lonesome Feeling” b/w “CONSIDER Love.” In addition they made an appearance with Margie Hendrix on her behalf Apr 1964 Tangerine launch, “Let NOBODY Keep You” b/w “A Lover’s Blues,” acknowledged as Margie Hendrix as well as the Vocals. Hendrix, a Raelet, previously sang using the Cookies (“Don’t State Nothing Poor About My Baby”). Complications compelled Elston and Butler to keep; they possessed and managed a clothing shop in LA before developing the Close friends of Difference with Jessica Cleaves and Barbara Like, scoring on top of the hog with “Grazing in the Lawn” and “Moving in Circles.” McLemore came back to picture taking and arrived a dream work snapping bronze beauties clad in swimwear for Plane Magazine’s centerfold; McCoo got a posture at a section shop. McLemore and McCoo afterwards joined pushes with Florence LaRue, a college teacher and previous beauty contest champion; Ron Townsend; and Billy Davis, a gospel/spirit vocalist from St. Louis, MO, to create the Fifth Aspect. The pop-ish sounding quintet surfaced prior to the Close friends of Difference and have scored many pop strikes including “Up, Up and Apart,” “One Much less Bell to Reply,” and “Aquarius (Allow Sunlight In).”
