Perhaps one of the most promising rings from the insurgent nation movement from the ’90s, the Atlanta five-piece the Vidalias — named for Georgia’s famous onions — blended nation, rockabilly, bluesy rock and roll, and occasional golf swing, deriving an audio that recalls the country-rock from the Traveling Burrito Brothers and sometimes hints in the Western golf swing of Asleep on the Steering wheel. Led with the vocal, electric guitar, and songwriting abilities of Charles Walston, the group also included Henry Bruns on pedal metal electric guitar, bassist Jim Johnson, guitarist Web page Waldrop, and David Michaelson — of the initial Georgia Satellites — on drums.
