Impossibly rare — depriving listeners of the underground classic — may be the Trolls’ pairing of “Walkin’ Shoes” b/w “HOW WILL YOU Expect Me to Trust You?” (Peatlore 23267, 1966). “Sneakers,” a harmonica-laced shuffle, includes a hypnotic defeat and convincing vocal (half sneer, half world-weary sigh), while “Trust” wraps that mystic tone of voice in robes of rainy-day representation. Both music sprang in the pencil of Jim McPherson. The Trolls comprised the power trio or quartet — the group’s real lineup seems dropped within the mists of your time. McPherson afterwards became section of Stained Glass.
