Among the many groupings inspired with the urban folk revival of the first 60s, the Tourists 3 was founded by Pete Apo, Charles Oyama and Dick Shirley even though their studies at the School of Oregon, USA. They quickly became a favorite folk appeal through performances at several important venues, like the Troubador (LA), the Gate Of Horn (Chicago) as well as the Exodus (Denver). The Tourists 3 finished three albums for the renowned Elektra Information label before adding a drummer, Michael Gene Botta. Then they switched outlet stores to Capitol Information, but not surprisingly pioneering adoption of the folk rock structure, the group split when struggling to secure a fresh audience.
